The Dr Charles L. Schepens Lifetime Achievement In lionism award was established by the Nahant Lions Club in 1992 to honor Dr. Schepens (1912-2006) on the occasion of his 80th birthday

Dr Schepens was a member of the Nahant Lions Club for over forty eight years. Dr. Schepens,recognized worldwide as a pioneer in eye research , founded the Schepens Eye research Institute in 1950.

The Nahant Lions Club presents the award to a Lion of District 33N annually on the second Wednesday in May. Nominations are accepted by the president of the Nahant Lions Club through February.
